Overview:

ABI Civil Contractors were engaged by Consolidated Power Projects Australia (CPP) to construct all civil aspects of the Bango Windfarm Substation which forms part of the TransGrid High Voltage (HV) network.

Works included bulk earthworks, installation of drainage and electrical conduits and construction of all concrete structures within the substation switchyard.

When complete the substation will service 46 turbines producing enough electricity to power over 100,000 homes.

Scope:
  • Earthworks, bulk excavation, fill and construct substation bench
  • Construct footings for HV equipment
  • Drainage including oil containment
  • Site survey
  • Construction of concrete structures including transformer bunds and oil spill tank
  • Topsoil re-spreading and seed at completion of the earthworks
Core Outcomes:
  • The project has expanded ABI Civil Contracting’s capabilities and reputation as a combined earthworks, drainage, and Formwork contractor
  • Resourcing labour, plant, and materials for such a remote location needs to commence as soon as possible
  • Clear expectations of both ABI Civil Contracting and the Client needed to be established early
