Project Commencement:
October 2022
Project Completion:
June 2023
Client:
Transport for NSW (TfNSW)
Overview:
The non-compliant commuter car park and footpath and ramps between the platform and car park did not facilitate access for people with reduced mobility, parents or carers with prams, or customers with luggage. The project provided safe and equitable access to the station, platform and car park, and to the bus and pedestrian network surrounding the station.
Scope:
- Utilities relocation
- Reconstruction of existing flexible and rigid pavement
- Upgrade existing and accessible parking spaces
- Install new street and station lighting
- Staged demolition stairs, ramp and suspended slab around the station buildings and precinct
- Reconstruction of new compliant stairs, ramps and handrails
- Refresh existing male and female toilets and construction of a brand-new Family Accessible Toilet (FAT)
- Upgrade and refresh existing waiting room and ticket office
- Re-guarding of existing platform
- New hard and soft landscaping
Core Outcomes:
- Upgrading Section 60 Stage Heritage Listed Station and working to the Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA)
- The project was staged to ensure there was no impact to the level of services for both commuters and freight services. This includes coaches and pedestrian movements around the station
- ABI Civil Contracting has successfully managed and co-ordinate its works with numerous stakeholders. These stakeholders included but not limited to Sydney Trains, ARTC, NSW Trainlink, Midcoast Council, private bus operators and TfNSW
